Running the Coast with HowardFilms

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to sit down with Jamie Howard to discuss his newest film “Running the Coast.” After speaking with Jamie for a few moments and watching the film, I knew immediately that this film, dedicated to striped bass, would be must see content for Surf Day attendees.  While we will not be able to show the film in its entirety, Jamie put together a great preview to give you a taste of what the film is about.
After five years on the road, the striped bass movie Running the Coast has now been released. A lot of us have been talking about this movie and anticipating it’s arrival. Now, we have an exclusive sneak created by HowardFilms (www.Howardfilms.com) for our event! And, we will be raffling off new DVDs of the entire series at the show.
Preview the movie’s 1,500 mile round-trip, and take a look at the cast of characters that make the whole movie a blast to sit down and enjoy a beer with during the off-season (Or during the season).
Striped bass chasers, as well as lovers of the water and the outdoors have been eagerly awaiting the release of this first ever feature film on the striped bass migration. Now it’s here.
HowardFilms, the creators of many award-winning films on angling, and whose film Chasing Silver was honored with inclusion in the Igfa’s Hall of Fame theater, has taken everything a step further on this one.
Besides the ambitious investment of time and money to get it right – and make this such an exciting fishing film, it is also driven by the need protect a fish that has been on a decline for over a decade.
The greatest saltwater game fish in North America, the one that has a history dating back to Captain John Smith, finally has its movie.
Come share a screening with us. See the entire miniseries at www.Howardfilms.com/runningthecoast.

2017 Seminar Speakers Announced

We are excited to announce the seminar presenters for our 10th Annual Surf Day.

As a club, JSS makes it a point to give back to the surfcasting community. One way that we do it is by offering education through our seminars at Surf Day. This year we hand selected some of the best surfcasters around . With a wide range of topics and skill levels covered we hope the seminars will get your blood pumping and ready to take on the spring run.

In our 10th year we are bringing back two top surfcasters. Making their long awaited return to Surf Day for the first time in years are Mike Laptew and Nick Honachefsky.

Mike Laptew also know as “The Diving Fisherman” will be showing us striped bass fishing from an underwater perspective. It should be a great way to learn about striper habitats, and their behaviors.

Nick Honachefsky , a Jersey Shore surf native, will be giving us valuable knowledge about hour home state’s waters. We can’t wait to have him back at Surf Day.

Also from the Cape Cod Canal, making a Surf Day debut is Big Dave Thomashey. He has fished his entire life in the waters in and surrounding the Cape Cod Canal. If you fish the canal or want to, you won’t want to miss this.

Also coming back this year:

Dave Anderson

Joe D’Agostino

Peter Jenkins

Jim “Murty” Murtaugh
